Elkhart Brass CHIEF Nozzles -
Low Pressure, High Performance
There has been a trend in the fire service industry for several years to utilize greater water flow for initial attack. Even with lightweight synthetic hose, this flow range can be hard to handle because of the reaction force encountered by the nozzle team.
There are two ways to reduce reaction force:
Flow less water, or
Reduce the nozzle pressure at which the water is being discharged.
By reducing the flow, you will also reduce your fire-fighting capabilities. However, by reducing the nozzle pressure to apply that flow, you merely reduce the reaction force of the fire stream...and that equates to less wear and tear on the nozzleman!
